The Special Investigation Service opened a new office in Kakheti
Within the framework of strengthening and institutional expansion, the Special Investigation Service opened Kakheti Regional Office in Telavi to ensure geographical accessibility and effective investigation.
The Head of the Special Investigation Service, Koka Katsitadze visited a new office together with his deputies and representatives of the “Georgian Young Lawyers' Association” (GYLA) and introduced a work process on the place.
The newly established office in Telavi city (Erekle II Avenue, No. 16) is accessible for persons with disabilities and is equipped with all the necessary infrastructure for the investigation body, including interrogation and identification rooms, teleconference systems and a child-friendly juvenile room.
The regional office equipped with modern infrastructure will allow the investigators of the Special Investigation Service to respond timely and conduct an objective and effective investigation of the cases of ill-treatment committed by law enforcement officers and cases of crimes against human rights and freedom in the Kakheti region.
The Kakheti Regional Office of the SIS has been staffed with professionals selected through an open competition, who started exercising their duties in the newly opened office.
The Special Investigation Service plans to open new offices in Western and Eastern Georgia within the framework of institutional development reform in order to efficiently fight against ill-treatment and related crimes.
