Special Investigation Service revealed 3 law enforcement officers for a violent crime
As a result of investigative and procedural actions carried out by the Special Investigation Service in April-May of this year, the SISrevealed 2 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) and 1 employee of the Ministry of Defence(MOD) for a violent crime.
on March 16, 2023, in Tbilisi, an employee of the Security Police Department of the MIA, V.G. is revealed for a crime during a conflictarising from a mutual dispute, hit a citizen several times in the face and knocked him down. As a result, the affected person suffered less serious harm to health.
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia charged the accused person with a crime of less serious harm to health. The crime shall be punished by imprisonment for a term of 2 to 4 years.
The employee of the Emergency Situations Management Service of the MIA,D.R.revealeda crime of physically assaulting his ex-wife in December and May 2021 and in April 2022 as well asa threat of killing her.
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia charged the law enforcement officer with domestic violence and the threat of killing and applied to the court with a request to use imprisonment as a preventive measure. According to the court's decision, the accused person was granted bail of 4000 GEL and discharged from his position.
The employee of the Military Police Department of the Defence Forces of the MoD, L. K.is also revealed for a crime of physically assaulting a woman in a relationship with him and threateningto kill herin May, October and November 2022, as well as in March 2023, in Tbilisi.
The Prosecutor's Office of Georgia charged the above-mentioned person with violence and the threat of killing and applied to the court with a request to use imprisonment as a preventive measure. According to the court's decision, the accused person was granted bail of 7000 GEL.
The Special Investigation Service launcheda prompt investigation on each case after reporting the affected citizens. The investigation obtainedthe revealing evidence of law enforcement officers involved in violent crimes and usedit as a ground for criminal prosecution.
As a result of the 1-year work of the Special Investigation Service, criminal prosecution for ill-treatment and violent crimes was launched against 36 law enforcement officers.
