Koka Katsitadze hosted the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Georgia H.E Sheraz GASRI to the Special Investigation Service

 

Koka Katsitadze hosted the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Georgia H.E Sheraz GASRI to the Special Investigation Service.

 

The Head of the Special Investigation Service Koka Katsitadze with his Deputy Natia Songulashvili held the meeting with H.E Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Georgia H.E Sheraz GASRI.

 

During the introductory meeting parties discussed the aspects of future cooperation.

 

Koka Katsitadze introduced functions and increased the mandate of the Service to the diplomat. He also outlined future projects and reforms to be implemented within the framework of the action plan. He also emphasized that the Service is focused on conducting investigations in accordance with international standards and implementing the best international experience and practices for institutional development.

 

The Head of the Special Investigation Service stressed the importance of cooperation with the French side in terms of familiarization with the methods of investigation of violent crimes and supporting the possibility of retraining Georgian investigators within the investigative mandate of the Service.

 

During the meeting, the importance of joining the Special Investigation Service in the Independent Police Complaints Authorities’ Network (IPCAN) was discussed.  Network Secretariat is headed by the French Human Rights Defender.

 

Koka Katsitadze thanked Ambassador H.E Sheraz GASRI for the meeting and the fruitful discussion along with the best wishes for success in her honorable mission.

 

Olivier Lefebvre, Homeland Security Attache of the French Embassy and Natia Pirashvili, the Head of the International Relations Department of the Special Investigation Service attended the meeting.
