The Special Investigation Service held regional meetings to raise awareness of target groups


With the support of the Council of Europe (COE), the Deputy Heads of the Special Investigation Service - Natia Songhulashvili and Giorgi Kvartskhelia, held working meetings in Gori and Borjomi with local representatives of law enforcement agencies, non-governmental organizations, LEPL Agency for State Care And Assistance for the (Statutory) Victims of Human trafficking, Office of Resource officers of educational institutions and the Public Defender's Office.

Regional meetings were held within the framework of the Council of Europe project – “Human Rights Compliant Policing in Georgia (HRCPG)". Senior project officer Eter Kamarauli, addressed the participants of the meeting with a welcome speech.

 

 

The purpose of the meeting was to raise awareness among the target groups about the investigation mandate and report and compliant mechanism of the Independent Investigation Service.

 

 

Natia Songhulashvili, the Deputy Head of the Special Investigation Service, presented a 10-month activities report and discussed current and planned activities, challenges in investigative direction and aspects of future cooperation.

 

 

Based on the mandate of the Special Investigation Service, the participants of the meeting discussed the local actual issues.
