Special Investigation Service revealed two persons into the fact of unlawful interference with the “Spero News” journalist’s professional activities

The investigation conducted by the Special Investigation Service established that on March 14, 2023, "Sphero News" journalist T.K. implemented journalistic activities and tried to interview the respondent near Gazapkhuli Street in Tbilisi.

While working on the report, the relatives of the respondent tried to hinder the journalist in his professional activities. In particular, the defendants tried to take away the video camera and physically abused the journalist.

With the mentioned activities, unlawful interference was implemented with the injured journalist's professional activities.

The Special Investigation Service conducted all necessary investigative and procedural actions on the case and obtained evidence of a crime. Based on the above, on June 23, 2023, NK and IK were chargedwith the crime provided for by the 1st  part of Article 154 and the 1st part of Article 126 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

During the one year, the investigation was launched on 12 criminal cases and 8 persons were charged into the fact of unlawful interference with the journalist’s professional activities.
