Special Investigation Service arrested officers of the Security Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs

The Special Investigation Service arrested two officers of the Security Police Department, Ministry of Internal Affairs, in Tbilisi and Samtredia, for committing the crime of unlawful violence against a family member. The Special Investigation Service incriminated one of the officers of the same agency.

As a result of the investigation carried out by the Special Investigation Service, S.J., officer of the Security Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was arrested for the crime of violence against another family member and a threat of killing a family member, committed in the presence of a minor in the village of Yaneti, Samtredia Municipality, in September, 2021 and on 15 August 2022.

On 29 September 2022, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia charged S.J. with the crime committed under Article 1261, paragraph 2, subparagraph ‘b’ and Article 111, 151, paragraph 2, subparagraph ‘d’ of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

On 20 May 2022 and 22 August 2022, following the investigation conducted by the Special Investigation Service, P.Z., an officer of the Security Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was charged with the crime of physical violence against minor children committed under Article 1261, paragraph 2, subparagraphs ‘a’ and ‘b’ (two episodes) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

On 7 September 2022, as a result of the investigation by the Special Investigation Service, Sh.A., officer of the Security Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was exposed for committing the crime of unlawful physical and psychological violence against his wife and minor children.

On 30 September 2022, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia charged Sh.A. with the crime committed under Article 1261, paragraph 2, subparagraphs ‘a’ ‘b’ and ‘c’ of the Criminal Code of Georgia.

The Special Investigation Service continues the investigation of the above-mentioned cases.
