Koka Katsitadze hosted the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Georgia H.E Maaike van Koldam to the Special Investigation Service.

 

 

The Head of the Special Investigation Service Koka Katsitadze, together with his deputies - Giorgi Kvaratskhelia and Natia Songulashvili, held the meeting with H.E Maaike van Koldam  Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Georgia.

 

 

During the introductory meeting, the parties discussed issues of bilateral relations and aspects of future cooperation that will contribute to the further strengthening of the independent investigation mechanism and fulfillment of international obligations undertaken by Georgia.

 

 

The Head of the Special Investigation Service outlined the functions of the Service and introduced the main goals and directions that Independent Investigation Service serves. There was also discussed the 12-point plan of the European Commission, according to which the strengthening and independence of the Special Investigation Service play an important role in the democratic development of the country.

 

 

Koka Katsitadze also emphasized that the Service is focused on conducting investigations in accordance with international standards, implementing the best international experience and practices for institutional development. In this regard establishing a partnership with the National Ombudsman of the Netherlands will contribute to further strengthening the independent investigation mechanism.

 

 

The issues of joint cooperation with the Netherlands in the frame of planning and implementing human rights and rule of law projects were also discussed.

 

 

Koka Katsitadze thanked the Ambassador for the fruitful discussion and her readiness for future cooperation along with the best wishes in his honorable mission.

 

 

Julie Nielen, 2nd Secretary and political adviser, and Natia Pirashvili, the Head of the International Relations Department of SIS also attended the meeting.
