The professional qualification raising training was delivered for the staff of the Special Investigation Service with the support of the Council of Europe

The training on the ‘Injury Documentation’ was delivered for the investigators, operative employees, and quality monitoring specialists of the Special Investigation Service. The training was funded by the Council of Europe.

The training aims to introduce participants to the international standards of documenting the injuries inflicted on the persons placed in the temporary detention isolators and the penitentiary institutions, as a result of alleged torture, other inhuman and ill-treatment. The training also aims to introduce the participants to the national regulatory acts, practical approaches and principles of filling out documentation, which will contribute to increase the effectiveness of the Special Investigation Service in the direction of ill-treatment case investigation.

The event was opened by the Senior Officer of the Council of Europe Project ‘Human Rights Compliant Policing in Georgia’ and the Deputy Head of the Special Investigation Service, Natia Songhulashvili. They discussed the actuality of the training and the importance of the cooperation in the field of human rights protection.

Considering the increased investigative subordination of the Service, the training of the employees and raising their professional qualifications is planned for the future as well. For the purpose of implementing LLL training cycle on the organizational level, the relevant procedures are being established. A complex training needs questionnaire has been developed, which is planned to be implemented in practice in the nearest future.
