The Head of the Special Investigation Service Koka Katsitadze hosted the Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani

 

The Head of the Special Investigation Service Koka Katsitadze, together with his deputies - Giorgi Kvaratskhelia and Natia Songulashvili, held the meeting with the Public Defender of Georgia Levan Ioseliani.

 

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss issues on strengthening future cooperation between these two institutions.

 

During the meeting, Koka Katsitadze emphasized the fruitful cooperation with the Office of the Public Defender, which includes the provision of information and statistics on the ongoing investigations, the legal status of victims, as well as the reports received from the Office regarding the violation of citizens' rights and the approaches to countering them.

 

The discussion also concerned the implemented projects and the positive results with the active involvement and participation of the representatives of the Public Defender's Office in 2022-23 on ensuring free access to case materials for victims, implementing special protection measures for the safety of the witness and the victim, establishing the Victims' Rights Protection Unit.

 

The Special Investigation Service will continue active cooperation with the Office of the Public Defender of Georgia and human rights organizations as well as will participate in future joint projects.

 

Deputy Public Defenders Tamar Gvaramadze and Elene Ghudushauri attended the meeting.
